...I got it into my head that "widescreen" can help this out. No need to keep the same, abitrary format of the original, right? Stretch this thing out! Giver her room to breathe. It didn't take me long to find THAT wasn't the answer. ...I erased her legs, put in new legs and tilted her forward (gasp!) just like in the original crappy painting. What was I thinking? I also figured out at this juncture that she should be much smaller if I'm going to convey any sense of tension in this at all. ...(((I will also note here that I was aiming for a more retro-looking dinosaur; that is to say pre-Jurassic Park. I'm very fond of the "wrong" dinosaurs I grew up with as a kid. Little brains, walking upright like a man, clumsy and akward! When Hollywood makes a special-effects driven epic movie of MY life, when it comes time to recreate the scenes where the dinosaurs come to life and destroy the small town I grew up in I don't want them using these fancy computer dinosaurs. I want Harryhausen stop-mo gorgosauruses chasing me across the screen. Or a guy in a suit with lightbulbs in the eyes for a glowing effect.) |
