... After doing the surface water I tracked down some reference and, like the nautilus, it wasn't very accurate. In the spirit of the rest of the picture, however, I shrugged and said, "eh, close enough."
...I played with the shafts of light and I carefully created all those nifty little bubbles that are too small to see.

.Addendum (a quick note as I re-post this series after not having it on display for about a year):.
...It's always tough to revisit old stuff. The surface water really bothers me now. I would do that a bit differently..
...The woman isn't that great, either. I think this painting is incomplete without the text on it. I usually like to see what a composition looks like without the annoying-but-necessary text, but this one is not right without it..
...As a visitor to my epilogue.net gallery pointed out that floating "thing" in the lower right hand corner is. . . what? It looks like a randomly placed shape and it's distracting. I should have gone with the underwater city.
