...My wife and I are big Sherlock Holmes fans. We recently purchased the Baring-Gould Annotated Sherlock Holmes set, we've collected all of the Jeremy Brett performances, we have several-- but not all-- of the Rathbone and Bruce movies on DVD, we've got the Arthur Wortner Holmes movies, and I have a collection of a couple hundred Sherlock Holmes radio shows performed by Rathbone and Bruce, Gielgud and Richardson, and many others. . . and yet, this is the first time I've ever drawn Holmes professionally. I drew a portrait of Rathbone and Bruce in shcool but I think that's the only other time I've drawn the character.
... I mention it because this just occurred to me. Big fan. Artist. Never drew a picture of him. Weird.
... It would be a kick to do a few illustrations for Sherlock Holmes stories. Paget-style drawings would be a challenge but maybe a look similar to this one would be a refreshing take. Hmm. Something to think about.
