...This was done for an opinion piece about the relationship of American Muslims with their country since the World Trade Center attack. Many muslims are turning to the security of the more traditional muslim culture as a response to the prejudices and general feelings of anger that are coming from the American cultural mainstream.
...I drew the figures individually in pencil and pen, scanned them in and pieced them together in Photoshop. The shadows of the flag and the figures – as well as the shading and textures – I also worked up digitally.
