... For the main illustration I worked from a (painfully low-res) picture of a 3D architectural rendering of the plan, basically painting over the top of it.
... It was a challenge because of the lack of detail-- I did manage to get ahold of a few other plans that gave me better clues, but sometimes they did not agree with each other. So, I did the best I could.
... For the inset graphic on laying the foundation I was given info from the reporter which included old graphics from before they began construction. I updated the information and built new graphics more in line with the style I like to work in.
... The editors had several other batches of stats and information which they also wanted to include in the package; therefore I whipped 'em up and tried to put it all together in a manner that made sense.
... I was pretty pleased with how it came out, especially considering all the anxiety I had as I fought to piece it all together in time for pre-run testing. Typical artist complaint, though.
